Idris Elba headed to a Galaxy Far, Far Away?

One-time Bond contender (he’s since declared himself not in that race to wear the tux previously donned by Daniel Craig) Idris Elba is rumored to be hopping aboard another long-running franchise. In this case, the Star Wars franchise.

The Hobbs & Shaw star may be playing a rogue again for the recently-announced Sharmee Obaid-Chinoy directed Rise of Skywalker follow-up that sees Daisy Ripley wielding Rey’s saber again. That film, written by Steven Knight, would see Elba clash blades with the heroine.

Giant Freakin Robot had the scoop, reminding us that Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy confirmed recently the movie will take place in a new era called “The New Jedi Order,” suggesting it’ll see Rey populating the Galaxy with Jedis again.
