Interview : Mike O'Hearn

Mike O’Hearn has just finished a stint playing The Man of Steel (Superman for the dilettante) in Sandy Collora’s short fan-film “Worlds Finest”. Clint Morris chats to the 6’2 Blonde about his career, upbringing and what led him to such an iconic role.

Mike, How do you keep so darn fit? do you follow a strict work-out schedule daily?
What do you mean? I don’t work out. But I think Peanut Butter and Jelly’s help and the In & Out burgers. I’m sorry…I work out daily. It’s my meditation. I work out for about 45 mintues a day. Pretty darn intense, and heavy as hell.

And I imagine you eat nothing but good healthy meals?
Lot of carbs like oatmeal, rice, Peanut Butter and Jelly on some nice wheat bread, and some chicken.

You’ve been in the game for a while. Where’s the interest in bodybuilding and the chosen career come from?
Since I was 7. When I saw my 3 older brothers and Dad working out, and looking at their muscle magazines, I knew then that I wanted to be buffed up, and on the beach shooting with gorgeous women in California.
The acting came right after college when I moved down to California from Seattle. I’ve been having a blast ever since.

“Worlds Finest”, how did you get involved in it?
That’s a question that Clark Bartram is going to have to answer for you. He hooked it all up. From what I understand, Sandy Collora was looking for a Superman and could not find one. Clark was present and heard what he said – then pulled out a magazine, and said ‘I’ve got the perfect Superman for you.’ The rest is history.

Is acting something you want to pursue further?
I will most definitely continue my theatrics. I study with a great coach – Jim Bontempo. I’ve been the lead in two movies: Barbarian and The Keeper of Time. And I ain’t going to stop there.

I read you’re in martial arts. What kind of martial arts do you practice?
I studiy judo, but growing up I did a lot of Kal le, Ji kwan do, Tae kwan do, and many others.

How was the feeling when you won your first Mr Universe? Any advice for future bodybuilders?
It felt like it was all worth it. It’s hard to win-being a life-time drug free bodybuilder. That means I have never taken steroids. So to accomplish that against the steroid users, just made it all worth while. If you’re bodybuilding, there are a lot more products on the market today than when I was at my bodybuilding peak. If you are going to use some of these products make sure that they are safe. I know that SARMs are a safer version of steroids so you can look at this lgd4033 review if you want to take them. If you are interested in discovering out more about SARMs, there is a lot of information out there for those who are interested in finding out more – Read more about SARMs.

You’ve the most covers of anyone – magazine-wise. What a coup! What’s the strangest publication that’s ever wanted an interview?
Well, you’ve got me there. I guess I would have to say the Enquirer.

What are you going to do straight after this interview?
I’ve got a hot date waiting for me – it’s Friday night – so I hope you don’t mind that I speed this along.

Advice for anyone wanting to do bodybuilding or play the Man of Steel?
Have patience. Persistance will win over all, and make sure you believe in yourself one hundred per cent. Now I want you all to go out and rent The Keeper of Time, and also make crank calls and e-mails to Warner Bros -telling them ‘Superman Lives’! Thanks for all your support. Now let’s get Sandy off his butt to make the Justice League.
