It’s on! Blomkamp, Weaver, Biehn for Alien 5!

Update! : Ridley Scott, director of the original “Alien”, will produce; “Alien 5” – or whatever they call it – will be set after the events in the “Prometheus 2” script that Scott’s developing.

It’s official. Ripley is back!

A month or so ago big-time science-fiction filmmaker Neil Blomkamp took to Instagram to show up some concept art he dreamt up for an “Alien” sequel. He did it all behind-the-back of Fox, just for kicks. Or so he said. I think he did it to meet Jennifer Blanc-Biehn.

Anywho, the pictures went down a hit, and the next thing we know Blomkamp’s talking to Fox about possibly turning his doodles into celluloid.

And looky what we have here!?… it’s a confirmation that “Alien 5” has been greenlit for Fox; Blomkamp (“Chappie”) says it’s his next filmish venture.

Apparently Fox loved what they saw from the get go, but it was Blomkamp who was a little iffy about whether he wanted to make something less original and more studio-franchise. Seems the studio said all the right things (or paid the right price), because it’s a done deal.

So, I guess it’s welcome back to the “Alien” universe, Sigourney ‘Ripley’ Weaver, and welcome back to the big leagues, Michael Biehn!

Um… So I think it's officially my next film. #alien
