Skydance gets Spillane

Top Gun Maverick and Terminator : Genisys producers Skydance are hatching a new movie series based on classic literary character Mike Hammer.

According to Deadline, the David Ellison-led shingle has acquired rights to Mickey Spillane’s and Max Allan Collins’ best selling book series with plans to bring him to the big screen. Previously, David R played Hammer in a small screen take.

According to the trade, no writers or directors are attached.

Skydance previously brought to the big screen fellow literary hero Jack Reacher.

The CBS series Mickey Spillane’s Mike Hammer, starring Stacy Keach in the title role of the hardboiled detective, aired from January 28, 1984, to May 13, 1987.
