With the coin “Transformers : Dark of the Moon” made over the weekend no surprise to hear that – despite Michael Bay and Shia LaBeouf announcing they’re quitting the series – Paramount are moving forward with a fourth “Transformers” film. Over the past 24 hours I’ve heard everything from ‘prequel’ to ‘Tyrese Gibson may take over the franchise’ to ‘home planet’. Took all those with a pinch of salt – just as I am this next bit. According to Showbiz Spy, Jason Statham is someone the powers-that-be are looking at to headline the next instalment in the robots-vs-robots series.
Statham dates “Transformers : Dark of the Moon” star Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and for some inexplicable reason the insider that’s supplied Showbiz Spy with this information seems to think the fact Statham’s bumping uglies with someone already connected to the franchise is gonna put him in with a bigger chance. “One of the stars being mentioned is Rosie’s boyfriend Jason Statham,” says a Hollywood insider.
“It’s clear the franchise still has huge potential but with a new leading man capable of taking Transformers in a new, darker direction. Jason could be just the man to do that and his relationship with Rosie would be an added bonus in marketing the movie.”
If there is any truth to the rumour, and I doubt there is, what would you think of Statham doing battle with the Decepticons?
