Juno Ayre?

Ellen Page wants to wear a Corset

Ellen Page is sure making some interesting career choices at the moment – and though I don’t quarrel that the character of Jane Ayre is a terrific role for any young actress, does it have to be the sassy straight-talking fox from “Juno” that plays her!? Wasting Page on a historical corset drama for BBC films is like using Gatorade to clean the kitchen sink! You just don’t do it!

But if Page wants to prove to us that she’s a “damn good actress” – though, we already know; we saw “Juno”, “Hard Candy” and “Smart People” – I suppose we’re just going to have to let her. If someone can just wake us up when this stage of her career is over?

Alison Owen of Ruby Films, who most recently produced “The Other Boleyn Girl,” is working with BBC Films to develop the new adaptation of Bronte’s classic 19th century romance, says Variety. It’s the story of a mousy governess who softens the heart of her surly employer Mr. Rochester, only to discover that he’s hiding a terrible secret.’

Page might’ve been best served giving Anne Hathaway a call before accepting the role – I’m sure she’d be able to tell her what a waste of time it was donning the English accent and top-buttoned gowns for “Becoming Jane”.
