Lin exits Highlander reboot rather quickening…

Not surprisingly, considering how much he has on his plate, Justin Lin has exited Summit’s “Highlander” reboot. The home of ‘Twilight’ wanted to move quickly on the remake of the 1986 Queen music stumper, but Lin’s too preoccupied prepping a sixth “Fast & Furious” and developing the new “Terminator” movie to be bothered with immortal kilt donners right now. The Hollywood Reporter says Lin remains onboard the project as an executive producer.

Meanwhile Lin tells The Playlist that he’s definitely onboard “Fast Six”, the latest in Uni’s righteously-rich revhead series, and has been speaking to not only Arnold Schwarzenegger but James Cameron about his plans for the new “Terminator” movie.

“And James is so gracious because he’s not part of the project, he’s not going to be producing, but it was great of him just as a filmmaker to take time out to just talk.”
“That’s a franchise that I’m working on right now, but again, if I’m going to be kind of the gatekeeper to it, I want to make sure that I can hopefully build it up the right way – and so far that’s been the most fun. Just to be able to [pick] James Cameron’s brain and for him to be so open even though he has no stakes in it, just as a human being, that’s something that I will always remember as a part of my journey as a filmmaker.”

Lin also revealed in the interview that he knocked back the chance to direct “Die Hard 5”.

“For many of the projects, I feel very privileged, but I just know it wasn’t the right situation. And the first ‘Die Hard’ changed me as a kid when I watched it. But ‘Die Hard 5′ is just not something that I’m going to do, or I’m interested in.”

What do you think? Should Lin have passed on “Die Hard”.. particuarly for a sixth “Fast & Furious”!?
