London Calling Ghost Rider

I assumed – hoped – that the “Ghost Rider” film series had been put to rest, what after that shockingly dull first entry – –  or even about to get the ‘reboot’ treatment that Marvel seems to be hell-bent on doing to all their franchises at the moment.

Seems not.

Nicolas Cage tells Coming Soon that he met with Sony three months ago to talk about the possibility of bringing back ol’ flaming skull.

“We talked about going international with that character, taking him into Europe, going on a motocylce tour through Europe”, says Cage. “It has elements of it that are very much in the zeitgiest. like The Da Vinci Code and things like that.”

MTV (assumingly at the same round table) also got a bit out of Cage about the sequel.

“There have been talks and good ones with where to go with the character,” explained Cage. “It looks like it will take place in Europe and the character will work with the [Catholic] Church. It’ll be a completely new experience. It’s exciting.

“It hasn’t progressed to [who the next villain will be] yet to be able to say, but I do know it will be shot in Europe and there will be some sort of connection working with different religious figures,” he hinted.

I liked it better when it was called “National Treasure”, Nic.

Speaking of, Cage also tells MTV that a second sequel to the Jon Turtletaub hit may be in the works – and it could be set in New Orleans.

Sounds like someone just wants to max up some frequent flyer miles.
