Mads Mikkelsen is the new Hannibal Lecter!

They shoot.. They score!

According to TVline, NBC and “Hannibal” show runner Bryan Fuller have made a nice dunk, with up-and-comer Mads Mikkelsen (“Casino Royale”, “Thor 2”) captured, incarcerated and probed to play the title role in the new small screen spin-off of the “Silence of the Lambs”.

The Bond baddie, who made quite the splash when he played the agents scarred nemesis in “Casino Royale”, is tipped to be one of the next big things in film.. So it’s a surprise he’s signed up for TV, committing to something that may restrict him from doing many features for a couple of years.

“Hannibal”, a prequel to the events in the film franchise, also stars Hugh Dancy in the role of agent Will Graham. Assumingly, bureau chief Jack Crawford will also pop up in the series, as may villain The Tooth Fairy, who Graham went head-to-head with in both the “Red Dragon” book and film.
