According to Coming Soon, Hayden Christensen and Djimon Hounsou are set to star in ‘’Mandrake’’. This, according to the site, is director Mimi Leder’s celluloid reworking of Lee Falk’s comic strip “Mandrake the Magician.”
… or is it?
Here’s what Variety says of the project :
… will now be a more modern action-adventure that is no longer based on comicstrip character Mandrake the Magician.
Hmmm…so what’s going on here then? Film version of Mandrake the Magician no longer taking its cue from the comic books but still using the title character’s name? Sounds like “The Punisher” circa 1989 all over again.
