Melissa McCarthy to star in new Christmas comedy from Bridget Jones scribe

The New York-set movie will air on Peacock

Universal and Working Title have tapped comedy staple Melissa McCarthy to headline a new Christmas movie, set in the big apple, to be written by Love Actually‘s Richard Curtis (The NZ-born scribe also wrote, of course, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Bridget Jones’s Diary, Bean, Notting Hill and The Boat That Rocked, among others).

Sam Boyd (“Love Life”) will direct the flick, which is housed at Peacock. Per Deadline, it’s described as “a fairy-tale comedy about a workaholic man who enlists the help of a magical genie to help win his family back before Christmas.”

No doubt the film will be ready to stream by this time next year.
