Michael Fassbender may get down with OCP!

Though it’ll be hard to imagine anyone else under the chrome-dome but Peter Weller (and yes, I am looking at you Robert J.Burke) the director of the “RoboCop” remake has a rather snazzy actor in mind for the title role.

Speaking to the Brazilian television show GloboNews, “RoboCop” director Jose Padilha says the ever-so-versatile Michael Fassbender (“X-Men : First Class”, “Shame”) is atop of his wish-list to play the part-man, part-machine Alex Murphy.

Said the director of the long-gestating reboot, “I can not speak yet, it is too early to talk about, but it has some actors I like. I like much of Fassbender. I’ll talk to him now, is a possibility. There are great actors who could do the RoboCop.”

I personally can’t think of any right now but… ya know, Armie Hammer does have a great big, booming voice. There’s one suggestion?

Earlier this week a video with Padilha was uncovered in which the filmmaker spoke a little about his plans for the film and how it’ll differ to Paul Verhoeven’s version.

“I will not repeat what Verhoeven has done so clearly and strongly,” Padilha told Film1. “Instead I try to make a film that will address topics that Verhoeven untreated.”

Padilha’s film will take somewhat of a “Blade Runner” by the sounds, with the filmmaker declaring his approach will tackle the differences between humans and robots.

And no, I’m still not that excited to see one of my faves get a hollywood oil n’ grease.
