Michelle Monaghan, a straight-up Silver Fox!?!

“Heartbreak Kid” star up for “Wolverine” role?

I love Michelle Monaghan – You’ll recall she played the love interest in both “Mission : Impossible 3” and “The Heartbreak Kid” – not just as an actress, but as a person; not only is she super talented but she’s so down to earth and so endearingly pleasant. And it looks like she’s becoming a huge star – which I’m pleased as punch about.

Word is Monaghan might be returning – she’s married to an Australian, so I’m sure he won’t be complaining about coming home for a spell – downunder for a role in the “X-Men” spin-off, “Wolverine”. According to CHUD, she’s on top of the list to play Silver Fox in the film. Haven’t read a comic since “Josie and the Pussycats #2”? well, Silver Fox is “.. a lover of Wolverine who first appeared in Wolverine vol.2 #10, where she is apparently killed by Sabretooth. However, her death is later revealed to be an induced memory of Wolverine’s. In actuality, she is a member of “Team X,” the best covert ops team the CIA had to offer, and is one of a few female victims of the Weapon X project. Fox betrays Team X and becomes a member of Hydra, a subversive terrorist organization. She is later, finally, killed by Sabretooth under the control of the telepathic Psi-Borg, and Wolverine buries her body outside the cabin they once lived in together.” (Thanks Wikipedia!)

In addition, the site reports that Michael C. Hall (TVs “Dexter”) is top of the producers’ wish-list to play ‘’Stryker’, the film’s villain. But wait! I hear you say, wasn’t Liev Schrieber supposed to be playing that part?

Well, yes, Schrieber has been cast in the movie, but not… well, here’s Devin to clear that bit up : “Liev is in the movie. It’s just that he’s playing… Creed. Yes, one of my favorite actors of today is playing Sabretooth.

This is the real deal, received from multiple sources, none of whom have ever led me astray. On the one hand I do have to say that Liev is not terribly Cox-ian (Brian Cox originated the role), so I was always skeptical on him as Stryker, but on the other hand Creed has never been one of the more electrifying characters in comics. Beyond his ability to have fights with Wolverine wherein they would disembowel each other on the regular, that is (due to Creed also having a healing factor). But when you have a real director on the movie like Gavin Hood, and he casts a real actor like Liev Schreiber in the role… well, how can you not be at least intrigued?”
