Mulroney re-opens Rockford Files

Seasoned rom-com vet Dermot Mulroney (though he’ll always be ”Dirty ‘Steve’ Stephens” from “Young Guns” to me) has been cast in NBC’s update of “The Rockford Files”.

This incarnation of the character – previously played by James Garner in the ’70s series – is described as “slightly crumpled, wry humored, cynical, world weary, compassionate when it’s called for and easily irritated by morons.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Rockford’s troubled past includes doing some time as a convict and a cop.

Mulroney, who briefly worked with NBC on “Friends” (he was ‘Gavin’), has appeared in such films as “My Best Friend’s Wedding”, “Georgia Rule” and “The Wedding Date”.
