No Escaping New York Remake

Aaaargh… and I’d hope this had been buried and forgotten about.

The “Escape from New York” remake – at one time set to star Gerard Butler, with Len Wiseman directing – is back on, according to Heat Vision.

Breck Eisner (“Sahara”, “The Crazies”) has been anointed the film’s new director. Allen Loeb (“Wall Street : Money Never Sleeps”) wrote the most recent draft of the flick.

Unlike John Carpenter’s original, Loeb’s draft reportedly mixes in an “origin story” for Snake Plissken (played in the original, and it’s 1996 sequel “Escape from L.A”, by Kurt Russell).

No word yet on who’ll don the eye-patch.
