No Sunglasses in They Live remake!?

Everyone’s favourite fight flick (it is a fight flick! Have you checked out the skirmish between Roddy Piper and Keith David in it!?) “They Live” is headed for the Fuji duplicator.

A remake of the John Carpenter-directed flick, starring Piper as a dude who – with the help of special sunglasses – learns that America has been overrun by aliens, is in the works with Eric Newman (“The Thing”) producing.

Speaking to io9 at this past weekend’s New York Comic Con, Newman said there’s a chance that the redo might lose the ‘glasses’ (guessing those in the audience of the film won’t be so lucky, being that the thing will probably be in 3D like everything else).

“It might be something different than sunglasses”, Weiss says, “We’re discussing that. I’d like to say that really, a vagrant wandering around the streets could get you to try on his sunglasses, if he would leave you alone afterwards. He may even pay you $100, “Hey put these on.” So we’re kind of exploring different versions of what is that thing that allows you to see. But I’m not going to tell you what it is.”

The writer on the “They Live” remake is ”Dan [D.B.] Weiss who is doing Game of Thrones right now for HBO. He’s an old friend and a talented guy. But that show has kind of kept him really busy.”

In other words, don’t expect “They Live” any time soon.
