Norton skeptical about Avengers

I’d heard a while ago that Edward Norton had already let Marvel know that he wasn’t going to be returning for any “Hulk” sequel – let alone an “Avengers” movie.

And it’s not necessarily because he didn’t enjoy the finished product (which he didn’t) because ya see, Norton let the studio know up-front that he wasn’t going to be their man if they wanted a franchise. It was a one-off deal playing the green giant as far as the notoriously-picky actor is concerned. And at the time, Marvel was quite happy to scrub the sequel option from his contract – probably just glad to have him at all. Fair enough.

I strongly doubt Marvel will sequelize “The Incredible Hulk” anyway – it didn’t make enough to warrant one, surprisingly enough; I actually thought it was good – but they’re definitely thinking of using The Hulk in the “Avengers” movie. What will they do if Norton doesn’t agree to come back? Bring back Bana?

A seemingly apathetic Norton told MTV News today that he knows of “The Avengers” plan but he’s heard zip and says Marvel are about as unclear of their own plans as an amnesiac spy would be.
“The minds of Marvel are sometimes opaque,” Norton told the site. “I won’t say [they’re] obtuse, but I don’t have any idea what they want to do.

“They’ve got this notion of collecting the Marvel characters,” said Norton, who appeared a bit skeptical of Marvel’s ambitious plans for the project. “Who knows where they’ll go?”
