Animated series ”Bedrock”, a sequel to the classic The Flintstones, has been commissioned for a pilot presentation, two years after it was first reported to be in the works at Fox.
Elizabeth Banks, who is executive producing the series, will voice Pebbles, the adult daughter of Fred and Wilma in the Warner Bros Animation and Fox Entertainment production. She stars alongside on screen parents Fred and Wilma, Stephen Root (Office Space, “True Blood”) and Amy Sedaris (“Strangers with Candy”), and brother Bamm-Bamm (Manny Jacinto) respectively.
Nicole Byer has been tapped to play Betty, while Joe Lo Truglio is Barney.
According to Deadline, the primetime animated adult comedy series continues the story of the Stone Age family, with ”Bedrock” catching up with the Flintstone family two decades later. Fred is on the brink of retirement and 20-something Pebbles embarking on her own career. As the Stone Age gives way to a shiny and enlightened new Bronze Age, the residents of Bedrock will find this evolution harder than a swing from Bamm-Bamm’s club.
