Parenthood for Gilmore Girl!

Update! Lauren Graham has officially signed on to replace Maura Tierney on “Parenthood”, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Though Helen Hunt was said to be the hot favourite, Lauren Graham (“Gilmore Girls”) is now likely to replace Maura Tierney’s role on “Parenthood”, according to The Ausiello Files.

Hunt was asked to come onboard the series following Tierney’s untimely departure (She’s undergoing cancer treatments), but talks apparently broke down between the studio and the former “Mad About You” star. Scouting, it seems, then kicked off in Stars Hollow.

Graham, best known for playing Lorelai Gilmore on CW hit “Gilmore Girls”, had been looking for a door that would lead her back to TV-ville. Apparently “Parenthood” creator Jason Katims is a big fan, so is zeroing in on the pretty forty-something actress.

“Parenthood”, a spin-off of the 1989 film starring Steve Martin, was set to star Peter Krause and Maura Tierney as the characters portrayed by Steve Martin and Dianne Wiest in the film version. Craig T.Nelson, Mae Whitman, Sarah Ramos and Dax Shepard are also onboard.

Krause will play Adam Braverman, a married man with two children who is a lunatic beneath the surface. Ramos will play his good-girl daughter.Whitman will play her rebellious 16-year-old daughter. Shepard will play the youngest Braverman, a slacker. Nelson will play their father, a Vietnam vet-turned-actor/hippie.

Graham, should she accept the role, will play Adam’s sister, Sarah Braverman, a single mother.
