Aussie film legend Paul Hogan is set to revive one of his most memorable characters… er, the one without the big knife.
In Australia this week to promote the sweet father-and-son comedy, “Charlie & Bootsâ€, Hogan said he’s hoping his co-star Shane Jacobson will join him in a ‘Leo Wanker’ film. Wanker, of course, being one of Hogan’s most memorable characters from his 70s TV series – an inept daredevil stuntman.
Speaking to The Age, Hogan said he liked the idea of incorporating his experience dealing with the tax office (they’ve been investigating him for a few moons now) into the movie.
”We were talking about Leo Wanker & Son – no bullshit! – as a straight-out, fast comedy,” Hogan says.
Hogan has been named as one of a group in connection to a AU$300 million Australian tax fraud investigation called Operation Wickenby, investigating 23 companies for allegedly using overseas companies to hide income.
”I’m a tall poppy,” he says. ”These silly bastards have spent $300 million and they’re under pressure to get some big name and to get some big money. I don’t have the big money, but I have the big name and they’re trying to justify their spend of hundreds of millions in taxpayer money – my f—ing taxpayer money!”
The new film would be called “Leo & Leonâ€, with Jacobson playing Wanker’s son.
