Bardem not Bale for Dark Tower?

Update! : According to Deadline, Javier Bardem – and not Christian Bale – has been offered the lead role in Ron Howard’s “Dark Tower” films. The “Vicki Christina Barcelona” star hasn’t officially signed on, but all signs indicate to a deal being made very soon. In addition to three films, Bardem would be required to reprise the role of gunslinger Roland Deschain for a TV series that would air mid-way through the movie series.

With his days as Gotham’s resident crime-fighter nearing their end, and his “Terminator” days also seemingly over (word on the street is the next film won’t continue the events of “Terminator Salvation”), Christian Bale’s going to be on the hunt for a steady paycheck soon. Might Ron Howard be feeding the Brit boy’s clan for the next few years!?

According to Page Six, Bale is the frontrunner to star as the Gunslinger in Howard’s film adaptation of Stephen King’s “Dark Tower” series.

Big commitment for the boy if he does sign on, not only would he be required to star in the films Howard and producing partner Brian Grazer are doing, he’d be required to reprise the role for a TV series that’s written into the package. Again, suppose it all depends how well the first “Dark Tower” does when it’s released in May, 2013 but all the same, big commitment.
