Peter Berg talks Dune

Filmmaker Peter Berg, currently prepping a new film version of Frank Hubert’s “Dune” for Paramount, says his version will be vastly different to David Lynch’s poorly-received take.

“What I never saw in Lynch’s film was a really strong adventure story. There’s a much more muscular time to be had there”, The “Kingdom” director tells The Hollywood Reporter.

Berg’s films usually have some kind of political message in them – but he’ll try and restrain himself from injecting those kinds of messages in “Dune”.

“There is a sense in the book that the commodity is driving the train. But I don’t want to hang the story on that. I read the book and really liked it.”
