Prison Break returns for Season 4

Picking up after the twelfth episode of Season 3

I don’t know about you guys, but I think “Prison Break” died at the end of Season 2 (or right at the end of Season 3, when we realised Sarah Wayne Callies had been fired and a body double had been brought in to make out that her character, Sara, had been murdered. If it was an effective plot device, I’d have no problem with it, but it wasn’t). The writing from then on got shit, the storylines became terribly boring, and I think it was pretty obvious that everyone involved were running on flat batteries.

This last season, Season 3, has been bottom-of-the-barrel television. Everyone I speak to shares the same opinion, “It’s gone to shit. It’ll definitely be axed soon”.

Huh! How wrong were we! FOX – the same network that only gave “Drive” a few episodes before chopping it, and let “Firefly” have 12 episodes before killing it prematurely – have announced they’re bringing Michael and Lincoln back for Season 4! What!?

Apparently the network has greenlit a fourth season partly because the third season was cut short by the writer’s strike. This last season of “Prison Break” revolved around the show’s main characters breaking out of a Panama prison. The show’s exec producers had crafted a mid-year cliffhanger at the end of the show’s 12th episode; that ended up serving as a de facto series finale.

Season 4 will see the characters having escaped prison, and Michael (Wentworth Miller) seeking revenge against the people who killed his love interest, says Variety.

Nick Santora, writer and co-executive producer of the show, wrote on his blog : “So we got word on Wednesday that we are officially picked up by the network for Season 4. This is great news. We are all very excited.”

As long as they’re not in that piss-boring Panama Prison anymore, It might be tolerable.
