Quick News – A-Team 2, Rock of Ages, Tree of Life, Hellboy 3, Zoolander 2

Compiled by the staff at Moviehole, Quick News is an assortment of news bites and other miscellaneous items, linkage and plugs that we just couldn’t find either time or space (or both) to place as individual news items. If you’d like something included in this section email us or tweet us!

We were invited last week to preview scenes from two of Dreamworks Animation’s upcoming blockbusters “Kung Fu Panda 2” and “Puss in Boots” while our full report will be up next week, one just has to play tease by saying how terrific the footage we saw was!

Sebastian Gregory has emerged as one of the leading contenders for the role of Drew Boley in “Rock of Ages“.

Bradley Cooper has confirmed what we all assumed; due to poor taking’s at the box office “The A-Team” won’t spawn a sequel. Says the “Limitless” star, “I loved it. But unfortunately, outside of you, a few of your friends and myself, there just wasn’t enough revenue to supply a second instalment of that franchise.”

Ben Stiller has promised that the long-awaited “Zoolander” sequel will be “bigger and better” than the 2001 film. “Where it’s at is we’ve completed the script, Justin Theroux and I, and handed it into the studio”, says Stiller. “Now the studio has the script and we’re at that point where we’re waiting to see what they want to do. It’s ten years later and most of it is set in Europe. I don’t want to give away too much, but it’s basically Derek and Hansel ten years later – though the last movie ended on a happy note a lot of things have happened in the meantime. Their lives have changed and they’re not really relevant anymore. It’s a new world for them.” Owen Wilson and Will Ferrell will reprise their roles as Hansel and Magutu for the sequel.

Nick Frost and Simon Pegg say it’s quite possible their will be sequels to their new film “Paul“. “As soon as we can we’re writing. We have a bunch of ideas, not least of all for ‘Pauls’ eventually,” Frost said, emphasizing the plural. “If people want it and we can find a good story there and Greg [Mottola, the director] fancies it, then potentially we have something.” Pegg and Frost also have another two films they’re developing together.

Michael Tabb has signed to write Universal’s direct-to-DVD sequel to last year’s “The Wolfman“.

Guillermo Del Toro has stuck a stake in “Hellboy 3“. “There are no plans at all [for ‘Hellboy 3’]”, the filmmaker, who last week had his “At the Mountains of Madness” canceled by the same crowd that were responsible for the last “Hellboy” movie, says of a once proposed sequel.

Baz Luhrmann will direct this “Great Gatsby” movie of his… just not yet.

The trailer for the direct-to-DVD sequel to “Quarantine“, previewing on the disc for Dwayne Johnson starrer “Faster”, is online.

The trailer for the U.S remake of “Wilfred“, starring Elijah Wood, is online. Funnily enough, it looks quite good!

Danny Huston (“30 Days of Night”) has joined the cast of Simon West’s “The Medallion“, a “Taken”-like thriller starring Nicolas Cage.

New stills from the forthcoming Steven Spielberg flick “War Horse” are online. Speaking of Spielberg, his highly-anticipated “Terra Nova” mini-series won’t be previewing in May after all.

Roadshow Home Entertainment in Australia has announced that “The Ward“, John Carpenter’s latest flick starring Amber Heard, will go direct-to-DVD on the 26th of May. That same month the company releases the controversial “The Kennedys” mini-series starring Katie Holmes and Greg Kinnear.

A few behind-the-scenes pics of Kate Beckinsale, back in leather as Selena, shooting “Underworld 4 : New Dawn” are online.

The oft-rumoured Johnny Knoxville has apparently been offered the role of Moe in the Farrelly Brothers’ “Three Stooges”.
