The live-action/CGI flick “Walking with Dinosaurs”, based on the popular BBC series, has been slotted in for a December 20, 2013 release.
Melissa Wallack (“Snow White”) has been tapped to pen “Emily the Strange”, with Chloe Moretz playing the goth girl. The story line is being kept under wraps, although the aim is to tell the origin of the punk and gothic figure and how she comes to gain her abilities that fuse technology and imagination.
Paul Schrader (“American Gigolo”) is collaborating with Bret Easton ELlis (“American Psycho”) on “Bait”, a thriller about a young man, itching to take his revenge against the wealthy, who finds his way aboard a yacht full of rich snobs – all bound for shark infested waters. The film will begin production November in Puertro Rico.

“Jane Eyre” director Cary Fukunaga will direct the sci-fi pic “Spaceless” for Universal. The Gore Verbinski produced flick “centres on an assassin who wakes up inside a spacesuit tumbling helplessly through space, with a computer designed to keep him company until his air runs out. He must try to solve the mystery of his death, which began when he broke into an orbiting space station to carry out a hit. The man, however, begins to question his reality, unsure if he is succumbing to madness or in an artificially created environment.”

WB’s Jeff Robinov says the “Green Lantern” sequel will likely be a much darker film than the first, which underperformed when it was released in the states in June. “We had a decent opening so we learned there is an audience,” Robinov says. “To go forward we need to make it a little edgier and darker with more emphasis on action…. And we have to find a way to balance the time the movie spends in space versus on Earth.” Word is Martin Campbell will not be asked back to direct the sequel.

Cameron Crowe is considering doing a sequel to his 20-year-old rom/com hit “Say Anything…” with John Cusack keen to reprise his role as Lloyd Dobler. Says the writer/director, “I’ve thought about it from time to time and talked about it with John Cusack once and just said this is the only story that I kind of think there might be another chapter to that at some point.”
