Trooper centers on KJ Flaxton (Sorvino), a common-sense mother-turned-New York state trooper. Hernandez will play KJ’s new partner, a former Miami homicide detective looking for a new start for him and his daughter following the death of his wife. Jerry Bruckheimer produces. (Deadline)
Sacha Baron Cohen will respond, in-character, to being banned from this weekend’s Academy Awards. A press release issued by Paramount this morning reads : “Admiral General Aladeen will deliver a formal response tomorrow morning [Friday] to being banned from The Oscars by the Academy Of Motion Pictures Arts And Zionists.”
Former “Prison Break” star Robert Knepper is onboard the new CW pilot “Cult”. Show tells of “Skye (Jessica Lucas), an inquisitive young female production assistant on a wildly popular television show called Cult who, after a rash of disappearances and a likely murder, joins a journalist blogger in investigating the rabid fans of the series who might be re-creating crimes seen on the program in real life. Prison Break and Heroes alum Knepper will play actor Roger Reeves, who portrays charismatic cult leader Billy Grimm on the show-within-a-show. Billy is a charismatic madman who commands his own cult of followers willing to do anything Billy asks of them — including kidnapping and murder.” (Deadline)
‘The Classification and Rating Appeals Board today upheld the R rating given to the movie Bully. The Classification and Rating Administration (CARA) had assigned the movie the R rating for “some language.” In the appeal brought by The Weinstein Company, LLC, the Appeals Board heard statements on behalf of Bully from Harvey Weinstein, Co-Chairman of the Weinstein Company and Alex Libby, one of the boys in the film. The Classification and Rating Administration was represented by Chairman Joan Graves.’ Needless to say, Weinstein’s chucking a hissy fit.

“Expendables” star Terry Crews will do an arc on Aaron Sorkin’s new series “Newsroom”. ”The show, set behind the scenes of a cable news network, stars Jeff Daniels as primetime anchor Will McAvoy. Crews will play Lonny, Will’s bodyguard and would-be-confidant or life coach of sorts. ” (Deadline)

Fandango, the nation’s leading moviegoer destination, announced today that advance ticketing records were set by Lionsgate’s upcoming thriller, “The Hunger Games”, which has already sold out hundreds of showtimes in advance of the film’s March 23 release date. Even though the film doesn’t open for another month, the first-day ticket sales on Wednesday, February 22 broke the previous first-day advance ticket-seller record held by “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” on Friday, May 14, 2010. “’The Hunger Games’ is off to a fantastic start,” says Rick Butler, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Fandango. “Yesterday we saw the biggest first day advance ticket sales in our company’s nearly 12-year history – which is especially impressive for a March release and a non-sequel.”
