Giancarlo Esposito (“Breaking Bad”) has joined the cast of “I, Alex Cross“, the Tyler Perry starring reboot of the James Patterson novel series.
Jean-Pierre Jeunet (“Alien Resurrection”) has several projects in development that he plans to direct; the films include the film adaptations of the books “The Selected Works of T.S. Spivet” and “Red Leaves”. His next film is “Spivet”.
Darren Lemke (“Jack the Giant Killer”) has signed on to adapt a CG-Animated flick “Beasts of Burden“; the flick’s based on a Dark Horse comic of the same name.
Lionsgate are helping Kevin Smith with “Red State” by releasing the film on most home entertainment platforms. SModcast retain the theatrical distribution rights to the film.

Despite Universal dumping the project, Guillermo Del Toro is determined to get “At the Mountains of Madness” made. “I’m not giving up… ‘Mountains of Madness’ has been with me for 13, 14 years and I really don’t want to give up on it”, says the filmmaker, who insists he’ll be pushing the project again once he wraps his next pic “Pacific Rim”. “Look, the movies I do, I stick with them when I think, well, if I don’t do it, nobody will. … ‘Hellboy,’ if I hadn’t done it, I don’t think anyone would have. ‘Pan’s Labyrinth,’ same thing. ‘Mountains of Madness,’ the way I plan to do it is a very peculiar take, and I think if I don’t stick with it the version I would like to see would never get made”
Jeff Bridges is trying to get his adaptation (he’s been trying for a few years to get it up) of Lois Lowry’s 1994 young adult novel “The Giver” made. Finally. Here’s the flap synopsis : ‘In a world with no poverty, no crime, no sickness and no unemployment, and where every family is happy, 12-year-old Jonas is chosen to be the community’s Receiver of Memories. Under the tutelage of the Elders and an old man known as the Giver, he discovers the disturbing truth about his utopian world and struggles against the weight of its hypocrisy’. Bridges would have a starring role.
Former “Roswell” star Brendan Fehr is back in the land of the extra terrestrial sightings. The actor plays a man hosting a UFO talk show in the indy film “Roswell FM“.
“American Gothic” and “Castaway” star Nick Searcy has joined the cast of “Metamorphisis“, a feature inspired by Franz Kafka’s literary classic.
Gary Hamilton and Jon Polson are planning an anthology movie, “I Love You, Sydney“, with twelve films running about 8-10 minutes in length, set in Sydney in a different month of each year. The film will make use of a number of notable Australian actors.

I’ve interviewed Harrison Ford before and let me just say, though a nice guy, he is a darn hard interview. Jon Favreau (who directed Ford in “Cowboys & Aliens”) seems to have no trouble getting the man to open up though, watch this.

Classic Trailer of the Day
All I remember is, we got a badge upon entering the cinema that said ‘The Kid is Back!’ on it; had they given one out that said ‘But the girl isn’t’ my excitement factor may have dipped… after all, Elisabeth Shue was such an integral, hot part of that original “Karate Kid”. Still, good sequel (much, much better than the next), good soundtrack (Peter Cetera’s “Glory of Love” is still a doozie of a track) and any amount of Martin Kove is good.
