BRUNO DOWNPLAYS “FOUR” RUMOURS

Bruce Willis is downplaying rumours that he’s playing ‘The Thing’ (Ben Grimm, not the creature that chased Kurt Russell around the snow in the John Carpenter movie) in Fox’s unnecessary but, well, necessary (legally speaking) “Fantastic Four” reboot. “It’s a rumor, but I love rumors,” said Willis. “I haven’t gotten that call yet. It’s a good rumor, though. I like that film. It’s a good comic, as well.” If FOX haven’t offered Willis the role, they will now. (More…)

INDY DARLING’S DO DAMSELS

Two of my favourite young actors, Greta Gerwig (“Greenberg”) and Adam Brody (“In The Land of Women”) are starring in Castle Rock’s “Damsels in Distress,” Whit Stillman’s first movie since 1998’s “The Last Days of Disco.”

The movie revolves around a group of style-obsessed college girls who take in a new student (Gerwig) and teach her their misguided ways of helping people at their grungy university, sort of “Mean Girls” filtered through the lens of the filmmaker behind such urbane indie dramas as “Barcelona,” “Metropolitan” and “Disco.” (More…)

Bad news for the [apparently terrific] “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark” remake, which was due for release in January : It’s been removed from the schedule and won’t be rescheduled until Miramax’s new owners, Filmyard, take over. The flick, produced by Guillermo del Toro and starring Guy Pearce and Katie Holmes, filmed here in Melbourne.

KICK-ASS SEQUEL? WHAT!? WHERE? WHEN!?

“Kick-Ass” co-star Lyndsy Fonseca says Mark Millar talks a lot of shite – there’s no sequel on the way… yet. “It’s going to be a while if it does happen,” the actress said. “Everyone’s kind of working on other things, and there needs to be more issues of the comic before there’s material to do another movie. So wait and see.” (More…)

ARKIN, ANISTON FOR “BUTTERCUP”

Alan Arkin and Jennifer Aniston are teaming up for a film – one that, thankfully, isn’t a romantic comedy! (Though I hear Aniston has been working out so her butt mightn’t be so saggy now). The “Little Miss Sunshine” and “Friends” star are uniting for an indie comedy called “Buttercup”, from “Whale Rider” director Niki Caro. Arkin will play a grossly irresponsible father who, in the wake of his wife’s death, decides to get his life back on track with the help of his slightly neurotic daughter (Aniston).(More…)
