STAR TREKKIN’ ACROSS THE WEBBYVERSE

That song brings back bad, bad memories (of my high school band)… I don’t know why I do it to myself. Anyway, The New York Times hints that a new female character – a Vulcan – is being invented for the “Star Trek” sequel. Kim Cattrall sheds a tear…Kirstie Alley eats a bag of donut holes.

Meantime, Devin’s new hole, Bad Ass Digest, heard from a tipster who has ruled out the possibility of Khan being the ‘big bad’ in the 2012 sequel. Instead, “The story will focus on a classic Trek character. And when I say classic, I mean a character who appeared in season one of the original series, when Gene Roddenberry was in charge.”

All is not lost though, creature designer Neville Page, in an interview with IGN, indicates that the Klingon’s might pop their Abrams’ “Trek” cherry in the next flick. Fingers crossed Christopher Lloyd gets the call!

LIFE OF PI LEAD

Ang Lee has cast 17-year-old newcomer Suraj Sharma in the lead role in “Life of Pi”. Sharma plays “a boy who is stranded in a tiny boat for 227 days with a number of zoo animals, including a Bengal tiger, saved from his family’s ship before it sinks.” Meanwhile, Lee’s “Hulk” still sucks! (More…)

BECOME A MUTANT IN SIX HOURS!

Jennifer Lawrence, playing a young Rebecca Romjin in “X-Men : First Class”, tells Hollywood Elsewhere that it takes her six hours to fully make-up-a-nize her into Mystique. As for when we’ll get our first look? the actress said Fox are keeping that (and her) under wraps for now.

OUR FOUR FARMERS

Jack Black, Matt Dillon, and Renee Zellwegger are onboard and Rachel McAdams in in talks to join “You Are Here”, a romantic dramedy from “Mad Men” creator Matthew Weiner, says Pajiba. “It’s about about two roommates in their 30s, preoccupied with dodging the responsibilities and rigors of adult life. That is, until the sudden death of one of the men’s fathers, which makes his unstable son the new owner of a general store, a country home and millions of dollars worth of Amish farmland.”….. Whoops, sorry fell asleep, what!? where?! when!? what happened!?

SEX ON A MYSTERIOUS ISLAND

“Sex and the City” (and “Melrose Place” – ah, what a bitch that Brooke was!) fave Kristin Davis will play Josh Hutcherson’s mother (you know you’ve made it when you’re playing Josh Hutcherson’s mother) in “Journey 2 : The Mysterious Island”. Davis’ on-screen love interest will be Dwayne Johnson – which isn’t so believable considering he’d probably squash the skinny lass in the sack (More…)

STUCK IN AN ELEVATOR WITH GLEE GIRL

It was announced a couple of days back that “Glee” starlet Lea Michele would play an unspecified role in the “Valentine’s Day” spin-off, “New Years Eve”. Pajiba has deets on Lea’s role, saying she’s playing ”a professional back-up singer who gets stuck in an elevator with a hipster dude she at first doesn’t like, but naturally falls for, and ends up at the New Year’s Eve party.” The site also reports that Meryl Streep is being offered a role in the movie. Good luck ‘tards!

LIZZIE MAGUIRE WANTS ME

Newly-married Hilary Duff will star in “She Wants Me”, an indy about “a neurotic writer Sam, played by Josh Gad (‘The Rocker’), who is making his next feature film and becomes conflicted after Duff’s A-list starlet character shows interest in playing the lead role, which he has already promised to girlfriend and struggling actress, Sammy, played by Kristen Ruhlin (‘Descent’).” Charlie Sheen will have a cameo as himself (second time this year, following that not-so-surprise appearance in “Wall Street : Money Never Sleeps”. Oh wait… no, he was playing Bud Fox. Easy mistake). (More…)

IT’S ALWAYS SUNNY IN LORAX LAND

Danny De Vito (who voices a character in “Stuart Little 2”, one of my daughter’s faves!) will lend his lungs to “The Lorax”, the upcoming flick based on the Dr Seuss yarn. “Danny has this wonderful ability to be acerbic and grouchy but at the same time absolutely lovable,” Says Illumination Entertainment chief Chris Meledandri. “It’s almost like Walter Matthau had. His comedic edge was very sharp, but he always maintained that warmth.” Ed Helms, Rob Riggle, Zac Efron, and Betty White have also laid down character tracks for the CGI flick (More…)

STONER CLIMBS TOWER

James Franco is directing a film based on American poet Hart Crane entitled “The Broken Tower”. ”Franco will direct from his script in and around the New York area. At least one actor has been mentioned for the cast: Oscar nominee Michael Shannon” What we really wanna know is, where’s that “Pineapple Express” sequel, like, man!? (More…)

BLACK ROBOT

Sorry, I haven’t got footage of Todd Bridges break-dancing. Ahem…Jack Black is set to star in the newly-resuscitated “How to Survive a Robot Uprising” movie (originally, Mike Myers was attached). Steve Pink, who scored somewhat of a mini-hit with “Hot Tub Time Machine” this year, will direct. (More…)

SISTERS GO SHOPPING

Meryl Streep, Sandra Bullock and Oprah Winfrey will star in a new comedy from Michael Patrick King (“Sex and the City”). Says Coming Soon, “King will write and direct the untitled film, set in and around the world of a “Home Shopping” type network and follows the characters as they make their way through the maze of mania that surrounds marketing, marriages and the media.” So they’re remaking “Holy Man”… with chicks!?

BORNEDAL LIKES RAIMI’S BOX

Ole Bornedal (“The Substitute”) is directing the “Dibbuk Box” movie for Sam Raimi’s Ghost House Pictures shingle. This is that flick about a box, said to be cursed and haunted by a demon, that someone purchased on ebay (Hope the seller wrote “no refunds” on the item description) (More…)

MARLON WAYANS IS MONEY

Marlon Wayans will play a hitman who dresses up as a dollar bill costume (Didn’t Bruce Willis beat him to that, with his bravura turn as a telephone in this year’s “Cop Out”!?) in “Twinkle, Twinkle”. That Richard Pryor biopic can’t come any sooner eh, Marlon!? (More…)
