Red State in Green State

Twitter-bug Kevin Smith tells Den of Geek (hmmm, funny, that’s what my wife calls my office) that he’s finally raised the finance to make his science-fiction/horror film “Red State”.

The film, which the Weinstein’s knocked back because it was too dark (and didn’t feature a donkey show), has had trouble finding coin. But seems someone just dropped their wallet out the front of the View Askew offices.

“I got a call at 2am last night’’, Smith tells the site. ‘’I think we’ve got the money for Red State.”

In 2007, Smith said the film was inspired by pastor Fred Phelps, or as the “Couple of Dicks” filmmaker claimed, “very much about that subject matter, that point of view and that position taken to the absolute extreme. It’s certainly not Phelps himself but it’s very much inspired by a Phelps (like) figure”.
