New Line and Dwayne Johnson have set Neil Widener and Gavin James to write a sequel to last year’s disaster film “San Andreas”.
Star of the actioner Johnson will return for the sequel along with producer Beau Flynn and director Brad Peyton.
Co-stars Carla Gugino, Alexandra Daddario and Paul Giamatti are also expected to return.
While plot details remain under wraps, THR reports “the sequel is expanding the disaster locales by going global, focusing on the infamous Ring of Fire. The ring circles the Pacific Ocean with fault lines and volcanoes and, according to scientists, is home to about 90 percent of the world’s earthquakes.”
