Scream 4 spec scribe talks

Last week, when the trades announced that a “Scream 4” was in the works, we received Intel suggesting that one of the scripts under consideration was written by tyro scribe Michael T. Kennedy.
Upon investigation, we discovered that the powers-that-be are reading the script… but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll get a look-in. Still, anything is possible (especially with that whole “Wonder Woman” movie thing where a couple of spec scribes hit pay dirt when Producer Joel Silver took their script off their hands).

Scream website Ghostface.co.uk had the chance to catch up with Kennedy, whose film experiences consists mainly of re-writes on smaller pictures, and see what’s what.

Firstly, Kennedy mentions that the character of Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) does feature in his script (as does Gale and Dewey, played by Courteney Cox-Arquette and David Arquette, respevtively).
‘’In the script Sidney is the main character”, he says, adding that the new film would be set in the same sleepy town the original was. “Woodsboro, Windsor College, and Hollywood all play a major role in every aspect of the story. In the treatment Woodsboro is a huge piece of the puzzle. I feel for Scream 4 a return to Woodsboro in one way, shape or fame is the only way to go. The fans want it, as do I’’

This script “ends the story for our original group. The only way to go with Part 5 and beyond is with fresh faces and a fresh story.”
