Second series of Underbelly greenlit

Vince Colosimo could return as ‘The Black Prince of Lygon St’

Channel NINE has greenlit a second series of the phenomenally-successful “Underbelly”, says News.Com.Au, and it’ll likely concentrate on the character Colismo played in the pilot episode of the series.

One idea for the second season is a prequel, based around the life and crimes of Alphonse Gangitano (Vince Colosimo) – aka ‘The Black Prince Of Lygon St’ – who only appeared in the first episode of ‘’Underbelly’’.

“Underbelly”, a 13-parter that covers the Melbourne gangland wars between 1994 and 2004, airs its final episode tomorrow (in all states except Victoria – which has yet to air the series, due to a court ruling).

A DVD of the series, to be released this week, has already received 60,000 pre-orders. The DVD will not be sold in Victoria.

Roadshow Entertainment, who will be distributing the DVDs nationwide, has taken measures to ensure it’s clear the DVD is not to be sold to any Mexicans (aka Victorians) by sending the sets to individual stores, rather than being delivered to distribution centres, and the box sets and display cabinets will clearly indicate that the series is not for sale, distribution or exhibition in Victoria.
