Series based on cult sci-fi flick Dark City in the works

“Dark City” tells of a man struggling with memories of his past, which include a wife he cannot remember and a nightmarish world no one else ever seems to wake up from.

Australian filmmaker Alex Proyas has revealed he’s developing a TV series spin-off of his cult 1998 sci-fi film “Dark City”.

Starring Rufus Sewell, Kiefer Sutherland, Melissa George and Jennifer Connelly, “Dark City” tells of a man struggling with memories of his past, which include a wife he cannot remember and a nightmarish world no one else ever seems to wake up from.

Bloody Disgusting caught up with Proyas, also the director of the classic “The Crow” (1994), to chat about his new short film “Mask of the Evil Apparition,” a short film set in same world as “Dark City”.

“Dark City right now is really an intriguing one to me because we’re developing a series, a Dark City series…which we’re in the very early stages [of] but I’m having to reanalyze in order to construct a new story. I’m having to go back and kind of jog my memory as to what we actually did and what I think worked and what I think didn’t work and re-evaluate my own film, so that’s been a very interesting experience as well which I’ve not done before.”

Nifty!
