Showtime not pushing forward with Ethan Hawke starring Gattaca series

Producers plan to shop the series

Showtime has opted not to move forward with Andrew Niccol’s proposed TV series based on the ‘90s film Gattaca. The series, which Ethan Hawke would’ve reprised his movie role for, would have brought Homeland duo Howard Gordon and Alex Gansa back to the studio.

Sony, who produces the series, will shop that series another that Showtime has opted to pass on, Mandy Patinkin starrer Seasoned.

Since Chris McCarthy’s arrival on the scene, Showtime has been reviewing all of its programming and has canceled and passed on a number of series including Three Women, Ripley, King Shaka, Ziwe, I Love That For You, The L Word: Generation Q, Let the Right One In and American Gigolo, among others. McCarthy will instead focus will efforts on existing, successful franchises.
