Shutter the Australian up!

Taylor wins the lead role in Horror remake

Put the hands together – no, not whilst doing that! – for Aussie girl, Rachael Taylor. Thr pretty blonde actress has just scored her first lead role in a major American movie.

Following in the footsteps of fellow Aussie Naomi Watts – who hit one out of the park with “The Ring”, a few years back – Taylor is fronting up for a horror film. In this case, it’s a remake of the Asian horror classic “Shutter”.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Shutter” revolves around a young American couple on their honeymoon in Tokyo who begin seeing ghostly images in their photos as well as around them. Taylor plays the new bride.

Shooting is scheduled to begin next month in Tokyo. Masayuki Ochiai is directing the Fox project.

Rachael has actually been going great guns for a couple of years now – in supporting roles – in Hollywood. Her biggest role to date is in “The Transformers”, due for release mid-year. She also recently appeared in the U.S thriller “See no Evil”.

Taylor got her big break in the Australian film “Man Thing”. Though the film received scathing reviews, and was merely given a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it direct-to-video release, it served as a great showreel for the 22-year-old.
