A proposed Spider-Man spin-off, previously skedded for Jan. 12, 2024, has been removed from Sony’s calendar.
Variety reports that El Muerto, a film featuring a Latino superhero who comes from a wrestling background, has given way for LaKeith Stanfield-led biblical epic The Book of Clarence, which took the place of the Bad Bunny-directed project after moving from Sept. 22 to the mid-January slot.
Sony is still planning Spider-Man projects, with Kraven the Hunter due out October 6 and Madame Web coming Feb 16.
Insiders suggest El Muerto has been removed from Sony’s to-do card but Deadline hears otherwise.
Sony Pictures said Wednesday that it has removed El Muerto from its release date schedule. We’re hearing that the film remains in development, but that between Bad Bunny’s tour schedule and the ongoing WGA strike a date has not been finalized https://t.co/9XDzowQwA4
