Seems the reason we still haven’t seen Broken Lizard’s long-promised “Super Troopers 2” is because nobody’s willing to pony up the money to make it.
With the comedy troupe’s last couple of movies not bringing in the bank, Broken Lizard’s Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, Erik Stolhanske and their longtime producer, Richard Perello have been forced to turn to the fans for help on getting their latest project up.
The page for the IndieGoGo campaign for “Super Troopers 2” comes complete with the promise : “The more money we raise, the more great, fun s*** you’ll get to see.”
The group hopes to raise $2 million over the next month; they’ve already garnered over a million dollars on day one. In other words, unless a new “Veronica Mars” movie campaign diverts everyone’s wallet’s attention, “Super Troopers 2” will be greenlit by … oh, around 5pm tomorrow.
