Sylvester Stallone as The Godfather!?

Action movie-staple Sylvester Stallone (next in “The Expendables”) has put his hand up to play real-life Godfather John Gotti in a biopic.

According to TMZ (Where accuracy is their foremost priority), “Rambo” star Stallone is apparently in talks to play the famous New York Don in a film being developed by John Gotti Jr. The site adds that they’ve yet to write a screenplay, so the project is still likely years away (if it even happens).

Stallone’s got a thing for biopics, he at one stage wanted to bring the Biggie & Tupac story to the screen, and still plans on chronicling Edgar Allen Poe’s life on celluloid (he wants Robert Downey Jr to play Poe), so there could be something to this – but considering the source, and the fact that it’s the first we’ve heard of such a project, don’t be surprised if Stallone’s peeps issue a denial over the weekend.

Still, I think Stallone would make for quite a fine Gotti – and I’m sure he’d appreciate swapping the protein powder for a large pepperoni.
