Terminator enters the Dollhouse

TV Terminatrix Summer Glau (boy was she brilliant in “The Sarah Connor Chronicles”; pity the Nielsen’s didn’t share the sentiment) has joined the cast of TVs always-improving “Dollhouse” – albeit temporarily.

According to Dollverse, the former “Firefly” star will be a guest for two-eps of the Joss Whedon-created FOX series. Whedon, having worked with Glau on “Firefly” and the feature “Serenity”, has been looking for a way to incorporate his beautiful muse into the show for a while.

The “Buffy” brainchild told EW a few months back that, “If anybody thinks [bringing Summer onto Dollhouse] hasn’t occurred to me already then they have not met me. I mentioned it to her before [SCC] was canceled. I was like, ‘You know, we should get you in the ‘house.’ But first we have to come up with something that works.”

According to the aforementioned fan site, Glau “joins the show in episode 5 — airing in October — for two initial eps playing a character called Bennett, working inside the Dollhouse.” (You can rest assure that Bennett won’t be a ‘Doll’ – Whedon’s already said if he did cast Glau on the show it won’t be as someone with a ‘blank mind’, being that the young actress has become somewhat typecast as those types of characters. Maybe she’ll be a new doctor? Maybe a suit? Hey, they need a new undercover FED over there now, right?!).

The “Dollhouse” of the title is a facility run by a secret (and illegal) group who have had their memories and personalities completely removed. When each doll is assigned a new mission (called engagements), they receive a new personality that is programmed to the specifications set by the “engagement.” As one of the dolls (Eliza Dushku) begins to piece together her past, she embarks on an extremely dangerous journey of self-discovery.
