China may have come to the rescue of the recently resurfaced “Terminator” franchise.
Though numbers for “Terminator : Genisys” were nothing to sing home about domestically, internationally the film – which sees Arnold Schwarzenegger reprise his signature role alongside new incarnations of the Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese characters – has been a success. The film opened in China to $27 million, a win that was enough to see it take the weekend.
“Terminator : Genisys” scored $89 million in it’s eight-week run in North America and has pocketed $352 million globally.
“Terminator : Genisys” is intended to be the first in a new trilogy of “Terminator” movies. Though the film’s performance in the US suggested that Paramount might forgo those plans, the performance of the film internationally now suggests otherwise.
