The Batman finds its Riddler, Gordon

Jonah Hill is a lock, and Jeffrey Wright is in talks to join the cast of director Matt Reeves’ “The Batman”.

The “Wolf of Wall Street” actor has been cast as The Riddler, says Collider, while THR says Wright (“Casino Royale”,”Westworld”) would play Commissioner James Gordon.

Producers have long wanted Hill for the role of the Gotham City villain – previously played by Jim Carrey in “Batman Forever” (1995) – but wanted to wait until they’d found their Batman before locking in the film’s supporting cast.

Hill’s deal hasn’t closed and sources say it could still fall apart, but all signs point to a deal being made sooner rather than later.

Meantime, Wright – who recently wrapped the next James Bond adventure “No Time to Die” – would take on a role previously played by Pat Hingle,  Gary Oldman and J.K Simmons. Benjamin McKenzie played a younger incarnation of Gordon in FOX series “Gotham”.

“The Batman”, which will star Robert Pattinson as the new Caped Crusader, as he tries to solve a crime while battling a “rogue’s gallery” of classic Batman villains (Catwoman and The Penguin are also said to be in the film), is due to start filming either later this year or early next.
