The latest on Snicket sequel

Brad Silberling steered "Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events" straight to the top of the box-office when it was released a few short months ago. So where’s the sequel?

"When I took the decision to take the movie I said I’d obviously do it with the right to refusal, I’m not going to give in to anything. I asked the studio how they were going to deal with the sequel. But they didn’t want to talk about it until the first film was out. It’s amazing; a script has not yet been worked on for the sequel, which I find a bit baffling", says Silberling.

Does he feel like he’s on hold now? "It kind of worked out in a great way, the film will find its audience and if there’s a desire to do a sequel there’s a question of what story it will be. What I am happy about is that if it were today and starting tomorrow morning I’d probably hesitate. After all these obstacles on this I’m thirsting after an experience that will be brief, an intimate story that instead of shooting in seven months, I could shoot in seven weeks. It’s kind of nice. That’s what I am hoping to do in the spring. So a second doesn’t necessarily include me".

Our full interview with Brad Silberling will be up next month.
