Caffeinated Clint

Landmark feminist movie as two female friends leave drudgery, responsibility and unappreciative husbands for a few days holiday, kill a rapist and discover their true power as women in the ensuing run from the law. Simple and heartwarming as the previously downtrodden Lousie (Davis) finds the joy of sex (with petty thief Pitt in the breakout performance that made him a star), both women exact vengeance against the sexual objectivity of women (in destroying the rig of the pervert truckie) and standing up to careless authority (in getting the upper hand on the highway cop).
Despite a climax straight out of left field that seemed far too extreme, a great and credible story, very well scripted and photographed, with something important to say, this film is essential viewing for both sexes.
Blu-Ray Details and Extras
MGM’s recent batch of catalog-releases have come out lookin’ a million bucks on Blu-ray, “Thelma & Louise” is no exception. The sound is very good but better is the video transfer – it’s amass with detail, bouncing with colour and essentially free of grain and compression artifacts.
Extras include commentary tracks (two; one with the cast and writer; another with Ridley Scott); a superb three-part documentary on the making of the movie; the extended ending; 40 minutes of deleted scenes; some vintage featurettes; music vid and trailer gallery.
