Third time’s a charm for Butterfly Effect

Second sequel to Ashton Kutcher movie in the works

A second straight-to-video sequel to the Ashton Kutcher/Time-Travel Mindfuck “The Butterfly Effect” is in the works.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, “The Butterfly Effect 3” (two points to the geniuses in the title department!), will actually get a short theatrical release (After Dark Films, which will distribute it theatrically in the U.S. as part of its After Dark Horrorfest “8 Films to Die For” series) before it goes wide at, er, Blockbuster.

Holly Brix (“The Lost Girls”) wrote the screenplay, which centers on a young man with the power to time travel who attempts to solve the mystery of his high school girlfriend’s death. Production kicks off in September in – the home of cheap DTV sequels – Vancouver.
