The first trailer for Edward Snowden documentary “Citizenfour” has been released and gives, well, absolutely nothing away.
I mean, I guess being a real-life story we already know a lot of what happens, but the trailer really is a teaser if ever I’ve seen one.
The vid was released on Friday prior to the films premiere at the New York Film Fest where it received a standing ovation.
Laura Poitras directed the documentary. She had been working on a doco about government surveillance post 9/11 when she was contact by “citizenfour”, a “government employee in the intelligence community”. Not know who this person was, Poitras travelled to Hong Kong with reporter Glenn Greenwald to meet “citizenfour” who turned out to be Snowden. He turned over the top-secret documents revealing covert surveillance programs run by NSA and the rest is history.
The film will hit cinemas on October 24.
