Underworld 2 is a lock

Personally, I can’t believe they’re even going to make this – the first was a liner of rubbish.

Still, not the first time bad movies have garnered sequels.

The battle between the Vampires and Lycans will continue in the sequel to “Underworld”, which Screen Gems and Lakeshore Entertainment have set for a fall start, says Variety.

Kate Beckinsale is reprising her role as Selene, the blood-sucking heroine who found herself in a loving relationship with a Lycan (aka werewolf) played by Scott Speedman, who is also expected to return. Len Wiseman will be back as director. Danny McBride will have the script ready by early April.

“Underworld” was shot for just $24 million and grossed $51 million domestically and has performed well on DVD/video. The film will be the second sequel for Screen Gems, which just wrapped principal photography on “Resident Evil: Apocalypse”.
