– Thomas Haden Church, Elisabeth Shue, Melissa Leo, M. Emmet Walsh and Keith David will star in “Don McKay”, about a man haunted by a tragedy that forced him to flee his hometown 25 years earlier who returns when he finds his long-lost love is dying — and is then caught in a web of confusion, deceit and murder.

– Bob Marley was on a local radio station talking about his part in ”Boondock Saints 2”. Not much was really talked about except that it’s going to start filming for two months on October 15 in Toronto.

– Samuel L. Jackson may direct the George Lucas-produced “Red Tails”. The film chronicles the exploits of the African-American war heroes known as the Tuskegee Airmen.

– Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens have officially signed on to collaborate on “The Hobbit” and its sequel with director Guillermo del Toro.

– Due to overwhelming demand, Universal Pictures announced today that it will release a special sing-along edition of its worldwide smash hit movie musical ”Mamma Mia!” in selected theaters nationwide, starting Friday, August 29, for a limited time

– It’s the worst kept secret in Sydney : George Miller’s “Happy Feet 2” is in production. There’s also rumblings of another “Babe” film.

– My good buddy Dean Murphy (“Strange Bedfellows”) will direct Paul Hogan and Shane Jacobson in a comedy called “Charlie & Boots”. Murphy tells us the film is nearing pre-production with filming due to start in October.

– The character of Captain Metropolis has been cut from the upcoming “Watchmen”. He will apparently show up as a member of the Minutemen – we’ve seen a still photo from the film which confirms that – but there’s no actor listed in the role on the Internet Movie Database.

– Kristen Bell and Rob Thomas (the TV show creator, not the singer) met earlier this week to discuss the possibility of a “Veronica Mars” movie.

– Dean Cain will lead the murder mystery “Maneater”. The horror thriller about a former FBI profiler and small-town sheriff investigating mysterious murders is derived from a Native American legend

– Laurence Fishburne (“The Matrix”) is officially the new star of “C.S.I”. The Fish will play a former pathologist who is now working as an itinerant college lecturer, teaching a course in criminalistics.

– Michael Fassbender looks set to join the cast of Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglorious Bastards”. It’d be the biggest role of the German’s career.

– Is Warner Bros considering rebooting the “Superman” franchise… again? It’s looking that way.

– Warner Bros. is scheduled to release Zack Snyder’s big-screen adaptation of the Alan Moore/Dave Gibbons comics series “Watchmen” on March 6, but a federal judge in Los Angeles complicated that plan Wednesday when he refused to dismiss a lawsuit filed by 20th Century Fox against Warners over rights to the property.

– Sad news for Corey fans! Apparently Feldman and Haim have decided to retire their reality series “The Two Corey’s”. The show lasted two seasons (the last season was the best too!)

– Jimmy Fallon will re-team with his “Fever Pitch” co-star Drew Barrymore for “Whip It!”, the actresses’ directorial debut.

– Shout! Factory will release “Spin City : The Complete First Season” on DVD on November 4. The set will feature all-new interviews with Michael J. Fox and the rest of the cast.

– The sequel to George A. Romero’s “Diary of the Dead” will shoot in September. The film will shoot in Toronto, Canada.

– “Firefly : The Complete Series” will hit Blu-Ray disc on November 11th. The set will feature the extras that were available on the DVD release but also a couple of new bonuses – including a newly-recorded commentary and cast reunion.

– Russell Crowe is developing a movie based on the life of comedian Bill Hicks. The “Gladiator” star would play the funny man.

– “Tin Man” star Shawn MacDonald, “Stargate SG-1” star Gary Chalk and Lorena Gale (“The X-Files : I Want to Believe”) have joined the cast of the new “Scooby Doo” prequel film, currently shooting in Canada.

– Vin Diesel will direct a 20-minute prequel to the new “Fast and the Furious” movie (likely to debut on the DVD). Michelle Rodriguez and Sung Kang will appear in it.

– The poster for the upcoming “How to Lose Friends and Alienate People” has premiered at MTV.
