Wall Street 2 being fast-tracked

Former licensed stockbroker Allan Loeb will pen the sequel to Oliver Stone’s “Wall Street” – planned as a vehicle for Michael Douglas to step back into the overpriced shoes of Gordon Gecko (though Douglas hasn’t officially signed on).

Variety says the project is being fast-tracked at FOX. The modern-day story will again center on Gordon Gekko, who has recently been sprung from prison and re-emerges into a much more tumultuous financial world than the one he once lorded over. The Bud Fox character, played by Charlie Sheen in the original, will not appear in the latest incarnation.

If memory serves me right Oliver Stone helped initiate development of the sequel so assumingly he’ll be involved again – either as director or producer.
