What happened to the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids reboot announced in 2020?

Josh Gad has the answer!

Disney

In early 2020, Disney had greased the pan on a Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (1989) rebooted that would’ve seen Rick Moranis yanked from retiring to play Wayne Szalinski once again. The film would’ve teamed the iconic comic actor with Disney fave Josh Gad.

Unfortunately, the pandemic came along and like so many projects, Shrunk went away.

Today, via his socials, Gad – who also wrote the now reportedly cancelled Twins sequel, Triplets – explained what’s happened to the film, said to be titled Shrunk.

Says Gad, “A lot of u ask me what’s going on with this film. Truth is, we were inches from starting and then COVID hit, inches from starting again & then my schedule exploded with conflicts, inches from starting again & budget got the best of us. If you want it, let your local @disney know.”

I know they tried to get him back for the new Ghostbusters, but it was an itch he didn’t feel he needed to scratch, alas Moranis did agree to come back for a new Honey.

Shrunk would’ve seen Gad (Frozen, Beauty & The Beast) playing Nick Szalinski, the son of Moranis’s Wayne Szalinski.

Is this who Gunn has decided for Superman, Lois & Luthor roles!?
